Images of Slovakia poster project
Function of this project
We prepared this project for people to learn more about Slovakia. All the people who will read our report and see pictures we chose for our project, will have more information about traditional images of our country.
Traditions, history and folklore
First of all, we felt it was important to include national emblem of Slovak Republic, because it symbolises a part of our history. We decided not to include a portrait of our president, because after several years there can be another person on this position.
We chose pictures of traditional costumes and typical musical instrument fujara (long pipe), that stands for Slovak folklore. We unanimously agreed that we should include a photo of Spišský hrad, because it says something about the life of our ancestors in the past ant it is also a member of UNESCO.
We think it would be relevant to include a picture of an animal, which should represent the nature – chamois.
We considered to give an example of traditional food in our country, so we chose halušky (also translated as Slovak potato dumpling). It is prepared form potatoes, flour, salt, water and bryndza (processed sheep-cheese).
Interests of young people today
Young people in our country are keen on music. We decided not to choose only one interpret, because each listener of music has got different taste. Finally, we agreed to include a photo taken on the biggest Slovakian open-air festival in Trenčín called Pohoda. Another activity, that people spend their free time with is sport. Almost everyone in Slovakia is ice-hockey fan. For this reason we felt important to include a photo on Marián Hossa, because he is recently the most successful player from our country.
Inimitable beauty
To conclude, we considered to give an idea of Slovakia as a country with its own wonderful culture and fascinating places to visit and live in.
